i wish bobby chinn will get out of my tv set. he is really obnoxious and you can imagine how it is disturbing to have to see his previews every 10min.

What have we, the TV viewers , done to deserve such a narcissistic, uncharismatic, and thoroughly insufferable brat thrust upon our consciousness?

his shows offer no culinary value what so ever and of course no "travel & living" value as well.

Can someone at Discovery channel please tell me how the hell did World Cafe get a second season? In fact, please tell me how did he get his own cooking show in the first place??

First off, he might be a nice guy in real life. But Mr Chinn is definitely a disrespectful guest in the countries he's visited. I remember him doing the bucktooth Charlie Chan face next to a local in China. I can't forget him making toilet references in his host's kitchen. Can the producer have a word with him? Or is this supposed to be funny?

Secondly, he might be the best cook in Hanoi ("might" being the operative word here), but why is he preparing the same charred eggplant dishes in at least 3 episodes I've watched? Does he have a fetish for wrinkly eggplants?

Please take him off the air. He's hurting my eyes.

I have to agree. I just saw this thread. I dislike him as a host and will avoid him once he comes on any discovery travel and living show in the future.

While I enjoy most other travel and living shows, I find Bobby Chin's shows offensive and him rather insensitive. He doesn't respect local customs, and sometimes, verbally mocks the local chefs/hosts. In particular, in a recent show about Shanghai, he's not respectful during a tea ceremony; he couldn't communicate with a Butan chef and when she made a sound, gesturing him to try the food, he mimicked her sound in a mocking way; he also ran away with a pancake cart from the street - the pancake chef looked confused - this was obviously not communicated well to the pancake chef. He also 'force-fed' his own self-made pancakes to some locals who were practicing tai-chi (one piece was so big it nearly fell out of a woman's mouth). I also do not like him using his own cam-cord to record people's lives, sometimes clearly against their wishes. It's painful to watch. Who does that? Would you do that to people in say, America, or Europe? You would probably be told off or beaten. I do not think Bobby Chin is fit to be traveling the world if he's not culturally sensitive. I do not respect him as a host, and he either has to change his attitude, or stop doing this job. I would not welcome him if I saw him on the streets.
