I've just been reading about the new feature on the home page about the 20th Century Icons and started wondering what makes a person a leader, an icon of a century. Were they born with their purpose in this world already "written in the stars"? Or that events in their lives and the choices they make shaped the leader in them? Then there are those other icons, other leaders, other heroes who may not be known to the world but made a difference in many lives! What is it that make them different from the common normal person? Curious as to how others feel about this, do share with me.

It takes a deal to achieve the wonderful title of an icon. Determination from my point of vie is the first thing that helps a person to get what he wants. If a person is determined that he has to get what he wants then he surely will and along with this sincerity, hardwork and honesty plays their part as well.

Well, there are many characteristics that a "would-be" icon/leader possesses such as intelligence, charm, good-looks and passion for what he does. Also, there's their effective social skills that really helps his subordinates/group feel empowered or motivated. Usually there's a trait or a combination of it in the above that a person possesses that makes him a remarkable leader to a group but what is more important is, how well-known the whole organization is or their impact on society for their leader to be acknowledged as an "icon" by people.
