i-Doser is a computer program that claims to play "Binaural Brainwave Doses".

To use the program, the user simply starts the program, uploads a dose, then presses "Play Dose" and sits back and focuses on the sounds. A typical dose lasts for about 30 minutes and each are meant to do different things to the user.

i-Doser claims that their "doses" synchronize brainwaves to allow the user to achieve specific moods depending on the dose that they administer by using binaural beats.

The "doses" come in a variety of forms and other moods or settings. All doses come with a description of what they are meant to bring about in the user.

The most expensive dose, called Hand of God, claims to be "..Like the Holy One reaches from the sky, as you lay with closed eyes, and shows you the universe, everything, infinity..." and to cause "Fluttering eyelids, great and almost supernatural clairvoyance, rings of light and great insight, but all this comes with a price. It could also bring fear, an unknowing realization of self, and a breakdown of all senses. Weeping, fear, anger: you need to realize with such insight could come bad consequences."

There are testimonials by people claiming for it to be extremely effective while others say that they were "disappointed".

I myself have tried the program with the dose called "Alcohol" and found it to be rather effective. I found that my vision began to blur and become distorted and it was hard to maintain my balance while walking for about 30 minutes after the dose was completed. However, I had to concentrate on the sounds while administering the dose for it to work, it seemed.

So, Mythbusters, bust this myth: Does i-Doser really synchronize brainwaves to cause mood changes, or is it all a placebo effect?

Hi neoengel,
May I ask what did you try? And did you experience anything at all? I was reading about it and thinking about trying it but if it's just a hoax I don't want to waste my money on it. Thanks!
