Would it be possible to drive a convertible, top down, fast enough through the rain so as not to get wet?

Yes, it is absolutely possible to drive in the rain with a convertible top down and not get wet until you slow down or stop. I know this because my 1992 Geo Metro convertible rarely had the top up when I drove it. Occasionally, I would drive into a rain storm on the freeway. At 55 MPH, the only water coming down onto me, the driver was from the windshield wipers as they moved nearest the top of the windshield. I experienced this phenomonon at lower speeds down to about 35 MPH.
By the way, I learned to move quickly to put the top up at a stop. |
