as it turned out, the s-tank is sweden's latest concept tank, a turrent-less, low profile, light but power-punching tank. by the looks of its design, yes, indeed. it would be very difficult for any other tank to shoot at the s-tank because of its very low profile. one could say that its a caterpillar with a big gun. of course, one doesn't shoot an s-tank... you only need to roll over it. and with 55 tons of an m1a abrahams tank, you could kiss the s-tank bye-bye? :-)

please discovery channel... you really have to reconsider your list. maybe you should subdivide the program into, "greatest ever, top ten concept tanks..., or top ten world war II tanks, or top ten latest battle tanks." and so on.

You're welcome to roll over the S-tank (or rather model 103 tank) anyday with any tank you choose Big Grin As a retired officer in the armoured forces in Sweden I would have to say that you don't know what you're talking about (700 mm of effective armour on top). The main drawbacks and the reason it was decommissioned was a) no turret and thus it had to stop to fire. b) too small a gun for a modern tank (only had a 105 millimeter gun instead of standard 120 millimeter). And that it is a 70's product and computerization cost a lot to keep up.

But just be lucky you've never had to face it in rugged terrain because you can't see the friggin thing until the barrell sticks in your face.... Big Grin I know!!
And it was also very specialised for swedish purposes and terrain. Personally I don't know where we are going to use the new Leopard II's, and how, when the flatlands in the south are overrun...

Just thought that i needed to say that the s-tank has been out of service for some time now. Sweden uses several different versions of cv90 and uses a highly modified and improved leopard 2.
