Why ice formed on mountain summit ? Since it is nearer to the sun - receiving more heat than the plains which is further away from the sun.

The principal is also the same on the aeroplane you fly. If the seat in front of you has a TV screen, it will show you the outside temperature...it's always a negative sign...

you're in a room and your air conditioning is at high. your going to sleep so you need a thick blanket. imagine our atmosphere as a blanket. mountain peaks are nearer to the sun so the atmosphere is thinner. that makes it colder.
