This February, we feature 2 Mongolian Emperors, Genghis Khan and his grandson Khubilai Khan. Both of these rulers were important figures in the Mongol history because they sought to rule — and not merely conquer — the vast domains that the Mongols had subjugated.
During his rule, Genghis Khan created laws which included capital punishment for stealing, the abolishment of kidnapping of women and the regulation of hunting etc. While Khubilai Khan in his time supported agriculture, trade, and crafts, and also encouraged tolerance of religions by providing funds and support for Buddhist monasteries, Islamic mosques, and Nestorian Christian churches. Which of these 2 rulers, in your opinion, made more of an impact on the Mongol history? |
